This year, too, witnesses the ever-growing praise of different pubic circles in south Korea for leader Kim Jong Il, who safeguards the dignity of the nation and opens up the future of peace and prosperity on the strength of Songun.

The south Korean major news organizations including Yeunhap News, Voice of People, Kyunghyang Daily News and Seoul Shinmun expressed special attention to the fact that leader Kim Jong Il took part in the mass rally of Hamhung City to celebrate the completion of a modern vinalon factory on March 6.

What is remarkable is that they stressed that Kim Jong Il attended at a rally of an economic field for the first time.

They reported that the leader sometimes attended at such political events as mass rallies, military parades, torch processions taken place in Pyongyang on the occasions of the birthday of President Kim Il Sung and the founding anniversaries of the DPRK, the KPA and the Party, but it was unusual for him to attend at a local mass rally of the economic field.

They commented that his attendance at the mass rally in spite of the inclement sleety weather showed his great devotion for the betterment of the people's living true to the behest of President Kim Il Sung.

They also commented that the leader attaches a special concern to the February 8 Vinalon Complex.

They reported that the leader visited the complex in February twice after setting forth solving the problem of the people's living as the foremost state policy of this year.

Seeing the vinalon cotton churned out in stream from the modernly completed factory, he was much moved to tears saying he felt happiest that day, and took the vinalon cotton with him by the car to show it to the President, they added.

And the media widely introduced the role of the vinalon complex in improving the people's living.

They detailed the kinds and utilities of the products indicating that the newly modernized factory produces over 500 kinds of chemical products, and vinyl chloride, an intermediary product, is used as raw material in light industry, caustic soda as raw material for soup and hydrochloric acid as raw materials for fermented soy and other basic foodstuffs.
