That the Korean people held in high esteem great Marshal Kim Jong Il as the chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission on April 9, 1993 is a historic landmark to demonstrate the dignity and glory of Kim Il Sung’s Korea throughout the world.

Leader Kim Jong Il pioneered the great political mode of Songun for the first time in history and incessantly developed it in depth opening up a new history for the victory of anti-imperialist independence cause in our times.

The Songun idea and politics were the key factors which have made the Army and people of Korea achieve only victory in the showdown against the imperialists and the US and in the struggle to build a thriving nation holding fast to the initiatives always in any complicated situation.

Under the Songun leadership of great leader Kim Jong Il the driving force of the Korean revolution has been remarkably enhanced and socialist Korea displays its might as a country powerful with single-hearted unity.

Since great leader Kim Jong Il has built up the national power centering on the matchless national defence capabilities by dint of the Songun politics, eye-opening miracles and heroic feats were created in Korea and a brighter vista was opened for the Korean revolution.

Thanks to the treasured Songun sword held up by great leader Kim Jong Il peace and security could be safeguarded on the Korean Peninsula, the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration were arranged to usher in an era of independent reunification, and the dignity and the external prestige of the DPRK could be promoted markedly.
